STONDON MASSEY GREYHOUND STADIUM

In the early days of the sport of greyhound racing many tracks sprung up throughout the length and breadth of the country. One such track was in the small Essex village of Stondon Massey when a local farmer used grass fields to diversify. He constructed a greyhound track, known as the Stondon and Blackmore Stadium, which was situated at 0° 17'E 51° 40'N. The earliest recorded meeting took place in 1928, and whilst it was popular with the locals, the meeting only lasted for one more year before closing in 1929.
